Light through the lace
On July 22nd, 2023, we begin in the rooms at home. Giuseppe’s jacket waits outside, hanging among the branches; indoors, someone adjusts his bow tie and a hand brushes his face. With Erica, light passes through the curtain and draws lace across her skin. We pause over those reflections, the mirrors and the gestures of the people beside her.
Before leaving
Once the dress is on, the pace changes. The doorway frames Erica, the veil is carefully arranged, and embraces interrupt the final preparations. We photograph smiles and hands reaching for one another, leaving room for the setting and the window light too. Then it is time to go.
Every gaze turns
A reflection in the car window accompanies the arrival. Inside the church, everyone turns towards Erica, then back to Giuseppe and their hands. We follow their meeting, the children with the rings and the exchange itself. Wider frames take in the church decorations; closer ones hold the small emotions that also appear among the guests.
The sky fills up
Before leaving, we pause among the pews once more. Then the door opens onto the noise of celebration: ribbons cross the threshold, rice flies and a box releases white and pink balloons. Giuseppe and Erica look up, laugh and draw close. We follow the balloons into the sky without losing sight of what is happening below.
A walk away from the party
By the water, we take time for a few portraits. Later we step outside again as the sun gets low: a road, fields and a row of trees. Giuseppe and Erica walk, pause and embrace. We alternate their faces with the landscape and let the backlight do the rest. The party is still there, ready to begin again.
Back to dancing
Inside, hands rise and the circle of guests draws closer. Giuseppe is lifted above their heads, while Erica turns with her dress following the movement. We photograph the celebration from within, among smiles and arms entering the frame. The evening closes outdoors beside the pool: the cake, pale flowers and a final toast.
