The rooms do not stay empty

Michele and Francesca come from the same area as we do. For their wedding, they chose Casalbordino, the seaside town where their love story began and a place they have stayed close to. It is September 21, 2024, and the sea is already part of the getting-ready photographs, through windows and openings onto the terrace. Inside, there is plenty to watch: someone adjusting Michele’s collar, someone helping Francesca with her dress, children sitting together, then a kiss on the cheek. We look for a reflection, pause in a doorway and let people fill the rooms.

The doorway changes the light

There is sunshine outside the church; from within, the doorway becomes a dark frame for those arriving. The children walk ahead of Francesca and return to the couple with the rings. Between readings, We watch hands, pews and the faces of those listening. As they leave, we move closer again: the shower of rice, raised arms, and Michele and Francesca just beyond the threshold.

The party starts before the portraits

They arrive at the reception with white balloons, then the group gathers closer and starts moving. There is dancing, children lifted off the floor and small hands appearing among the adults. At one point, colourful wigs appear with an “AUGURI” greeting made up by several people. We keep these scenes alongside the portraits: they show who was there, and how much they wanted to be part of it.

Now we can step onto the sand

We reach the beach with the party already underway. Michele and Francesca’s connection to this sea goes back further than their wedding: their story began in Casalbordino. The sky has lost its strong morning blue, leaving a pink band above the water. Here we widen the frame, making room for the dunes and horizon, then move close again to a smile or a hand on a face. Francesca moves her dress; Michele steps closer.

Soap bubbles and the last rows

Evening changes the distances again. A hug fills the frame; nearby, someone bends over a pushchair. By the cake, soap bubbles and sparks appear: small points of light against the darkness. For the last part of the story, we return to the children too, sitting in front of the screen with everyone else. After all that movement, we like to keep the moment when people stop to watch.
