What the mirror holds
In Giovanni and Stefania’s homes, mirrors help us keep several things in the frame. While someone adjusts an outfit, another face passes through the reflection; a smile appears behind a shoulder. We stay with these small overlaps, with the hands making last adjustments and the hands holding someone close. Children wander through the rooms and come nearer to watch. Before leaving, there is still time for a kiss, the last buttons and a photograph without asking everyone to gather.
The aisle from different heights
A little girl sits in the middle of the aisle. Soon afterwards, a sign carried by the children brings smiles to the waiting guests. We follow these moments, then look for Giovanni as Stefania arrives. From there, our attention returns to the two of them. We move between a higher viewpoint that includes the guests and a closer view of their hands. During the vows and the exchange of rings, the faces around them continue telling the story.
Ribbons across the steps
On the church steps, the guests have stretched ribbons across the doorway. Giovanni and Stefania emerge among those white lines, rice and confetti. We stay close to the movement, then step back to include the façade and the people on either side. The scissors and their hands become a detail worth keeping. Before they can walk down the last steps, there is still something to cut and another laugh to photograph.
Through the leaves, into the sun
Beside the water, we follow the railing and let leaves drift into the foreground. The veil changes shape with every movement, sometimes filling almost the whole photograph. Later, among the trees, the light grows lower. We move closer to an embrace, the rings, a hand on a back. Then we look from a distance again. Shadows lengthen across the grass and the two faces become silhouettes. These are brief pauses before returning to the guests.
Above the crowd, too
The party keeps changing our viewpoint. Someone dances with a child in their arms; others lift Giovanni onto their shoulders. We follow the circle, the embraces and the laughter travelling from the tables to the dance floor. The bouquet has everyone waiting for a few seconds, then arms rise again. For the cake, we move to the poolside. A toast, light on the water and the couple turning towards the fireworks bring this August 10th wedding day to a close.
